Registration for the 2026 Great Wall Marathon has officially opened, with the event scheduled for May 16, 2026. The iconic race takes runners along a course that includes sections of the Huangyaguan Great Wall in Tianjin province, featuring over 5,000 stone steps. Australian runners have been among the top international participants in recent years. The event offers full marathon, half marathon, and 8.5km fun run options, catering to various fitness levels. Early bird registration is available until April 1 at approximately AUD 15 for the full marathon. Organisers have announced improved logistics for 2026, including dedicated shuttle buses from Beijing (approximately 2.5 hours) and expanded medical support along the course. Accommodation packages at nearby hotels start from AUD 5 per night.
