China’s international route map is continuing to expand, with several new direct services launching in June and early July 2026 that will be useful for Australian travellers connecting via Asia or Europe.[2][4][5] According to China Eastern’s route announcements, the airline has begun a new Shanghai–Zurich service and is also adding more Europe capacity, with the Zurich flight operating three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.[13] Meanwhile, Spring Airlines has launched direct flights from Guangzhou and Shenzhen to Jakarta from 16 and 17 June, with three and two weekly services respectively, giving travellers more low-cost options into Southeast Asia for onward China itineraries.[4] China is also adding new long-haul links that improve access for leisure and business travellers. Capital Airlines is set to start nonstop Beijing Daxing–Lisbon flights on 22 June 2026, while Air China is launching Beijing Capital–Venice services from 2 July 2026; both routes strengthen one-stop travel options for Australians booking multi-city trips via major hubs.[5][10]
