Shanghai Disney Resort is set to expand its accommodation offering with the opening of the **Shanghai Disney Enchanted Star Hotel on 16 December 2026**. The 400-room property will be located beside Shanghai Disneyland Hotel, giving Australian families another on-site option close to the theme park’s attractions, dining and entertainment. Reservations are scheduled to open from **6 November 2026**. Travel and Tour World reports that a fourth themed hotel and additional attractions are also planned as part of the resort’s broader expansion.[2] China’s hotel supply is continuing to grow, supporting new choices for travellers across major cities and regional destinations. Industry data reported in a recent hotel-market review shows national hotel supply increased by **6 per cent year on year to the end of September 2026**, while major operators Huazhu and Atour recorded approximately **1,700 and 361 openings respectively** during the first three quarters. For Australians planning China holidays, the expansion means more accommodation options across different price points, although popular new properties and resort hotels may require early booking during school holidays and peak travel periods.[1] China Daily also highlights the country’s expanding accommodation and transport infrastructure for international visitors, including high-speed rail connections, international luxury brands and technology-focused hotels in destinations such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou and Shenzhen. These developments make it easier to combine major city stays with regional sightseeing and business or incentive travel itineraries.[4]
